The menu is broad enough to suit both quick lunches and relaxed dinners. Vegetarian-friendly selections are available, while amenities include dine-in seating, reservations, takeaway, delivery, table service, and alcoholic drinks.
One of the strongest choices at Sakura Japanese Kitchen in Sydney is the Chicken Katsu Curry, currently priced around A$26. The dish combines crispy breaded chicken with rice and a rich Japanese-style curry sauce, creating exactly the kind of comforting meal that works especially well for lunch. It is also one of the restaurant’s most highly rated delivery dishes, earning approximately 94% positive feedback from hundreds of customers.
The Wagyu Beef Don, around A$28, is another signature option. Tender beef served over warm rice delivers a savoury, satisfying combination without feeling unnecessarily complicated. Sushi lovers should consider the Grilled Salmon Sushi Set, priced around A$29 and praised particularly strongly by online diners. Salmon is clearly one of the menu’s strengths, with sashimi bowls, sushi sets, and teriyaki preparations providing several ways to enjoy it.
Customer feedback highlights freshness and portion size. One November 2025 diner described the food as “Super fresh Japanese” and specifically praised a generous bento box featuring soft-shell crab. Other diners point to the restaurant’s substantial salmon portions and properly crisp chicken katsu.
The atmosphere at Sakura Japanese Kitchen feels casual and comfortable rather than overly polished. Soft lighting helps create a relaxed setting, although lunchtime can become noticeably busy because of its convenient CBD location. Dinner tends to feel calmer, making it a better choice for diners who prefer a slower meal.

Havd tried food here many years back when i came to Sydney. After a long 8-9 years got to visit again with family for their first Japnese meal. They enjoyed the taste and now have added one more cusine that we can frequentlly have Being vegetarian we are limited to what we can have, but there were multiple options to select from Liked the bento box as well as ramen.. Quantity was good as well as the taste was nice; price point perfect Small place with seating capacity of about 20 people.. busy on a friday lunch Would visit again
The wagyu beef ramen was good. Little salty and the meat was overcook a bit. Sake was good too. Ramen bowl was very big. Like it a lot. We had to put some water in so it’s less salty. Maybe it’s just our taste.
A small authentic Japanese restaurant with delicious fresh sashimi. I enjoyed the salmon don which came with miso soup. Generous serve and tasted fantastic. Have been here a couple of times and have been very satisfied each time.
